Whig Party Becomes Compass Party

On March 14th, it was announced by Josh Ford, Party Leader of the Whigs, that the party was being reorganized into the Compass Party.

The Compass Party been labeled as “Green Conservatism”, as opposed to the more left-leaning green politics. The Compass Party Charter has outlined Environmental Activism as being an important characteristic of the party, as well as advocating for an efficient and professional Parliamentary system. The Party is expected to continue to uphold and defend classical liberal ideology.

Party Leader Josh Ford was approached for a quote, making this statement today:

The Whig Party was formed in opposition to the Monarchist Council Party, who, outside of the Sovereign himself, never displayed any real plan for progress nor development. The inactivity, and subsequent resignation of Leader Joe Sane MP marked an end of the uniparty, and later the noncompetitive two party system. With the emergence of the left-wing Labor Alliance, its time for a new force for not just moderation, but for progress. Under my leadership, the Compass Party will point the way towards national progress, cooperation, and efficiency. As a loyal opposition in the House of Representatives, we strive to put country over party, and continue to work with our partners in the MCP and VLA.” – Hl. Josh Ford, MP

In the 4th general election, the former Whigs were able to secure a 2-seat minority in the House of Representatives. The next general election is being held at the end of May.
