FEDERHEIM, VSM. (Versmark National): Moments ago, His Sovereign Majesty Wald I accepted a letter of credence issued by His Highness James Kimmis,
Regent and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Pontchartrain-Maurepas (colloquially known as Pontunia), to accredit Pontunian Foreign Minister Jon Makamo as Pontunia’s first Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary to the Sovereign State of Versmark.
Pontunia had not previously issued an Ambassador, with former King of Pontunia, His Royal Majesty Andrew Perdomo, serving as de facto chargé d’affaires since the two nations signed a Treaty of Mutual Recognition last September.
His Excellency Jon Makamo will be only the second foreign ambassador that Versmark has received, after Ambassador Connor Hetner of the Pinangese Republic.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Josh Ford, tells the National that Ambassador Makamo has “received the full rights and duties entitled to him under international law,” a nod to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 that the Ministry often cites as foundational to its purpose.
Her Excellency Jewele Olsen is currently serving as Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign State of Versmark to the Kingdom of Pontchartrain-Maurepas, a position she’s held since November.
