‘Busy week for Martin’: MoCA faces resignation, revokation and return amid controversy

In the past few days, Am Martin, the prior Minister of Culture & the Arts, has faced his resignation from office, a revokation of his title, a restoration of his citizenship, and further controversy involving his later appointment as Director of the National Archive. Needless to say, it has been a pretty busy (and, some might say, bad) week for him.

On 30 May, Martin resigned his government positions and citizenship within Versmark, followed by a depravation of his title as Count of Südland. The resignation and depravation allegedly came after a player-versus-player fight between Martin and Rene Wynefeld on Versmark’s Minecraft server, where Martin was repeatedly killed by Wynefeld. In a fit of rage, Martin resorted to burning down a barn on the server, one that was built by Josh Ford, who had no apparent connection to the fight.

After the barn was burnt down, and after Martin’s resignation, a letter was allegedly sent from Ford to Martin, where Ford had told Martin to “go fuck yourself” for burning down his barn, which – according to statements by Ford – had “taken four hours to build”. After Martin’s resignation and depravation was sorted out, Oliver Semple (deputy MoCA) was appointed as Minister of Culture & the Arts to succeed Martin, followed by Julian Szembek-Michelloti (Director of Education and Chancellor of NUV).

A day after the spat, however, Martin had returned to Versmark and had his citizenship restored after filing another replication, and was appointed to serve as Director of Versmark’s Statistics Bureau and Archivist of Versmark. This, however, did not stop his run-ins with controversy, as on the same day, a “incident report” was sent to Chief Minister Wynefeld, presumably detailing the latter appointment.

This was followed by an reply the following day from Wynefeld, detailing how Martin’s appointment had been done by the acting Minister of the Interior (under which the Archivist operates), and discusses further smaller actions alleged in the report. It also states that Eugene Smith, the author of the report, had written the report as an attack on Martin – one for “things that have very shaky grounds” – that was allegedly written partly or mostly by artificial intelligence (considered illegal under the AI Regulations Act, Q1 2026), and that Martin “will not be receiving any kind of punishment or ban that originates from the Office of the Chief Minister or the CM Exec Bureaux.”
