It is the start of 2025, a brand-new year of Versmarkian history as the nation approaches it’s 2-year anniversary. Let’s cover exactly happened in 2024 and what can we all learn from it.
2024 was a quiet year for Versmark, government functions moved on throughout the year as always, with the occasional spur of the moment activity. During such spikes of activity, Versmark has grown subtly.
A common theme of the year was the slow disappearance of some of Versmark’s founding members, who has been quietly retiring out of long held offices and positions in the government.
“A changing of the guard is upon the Sovereign State, with a great number of founding members, veteran office holders, the old guard, departing, while a new order of leadership is ushered in,” says HL Josh Ford, the current serving Minister of Foreign Affairs and member of Parliament. Ford has served in Versmark’s government since its founding in the spring of 2023.
As a result of the recent shifting of citizens, Versmark has reached a troubling state in terms of its number of Ministers. With only 3 sitting Ministers, one of whom is a Deputy. An abandonment of a House of Representatives seat was also troubling.
As Versmark closed in towards the end of the year, competitiveness between differing parties emerged with the creation of the Whig Party on December 5th. The Whigs are a Right leaning, Classical-liberal party led by MP Joe Sane. The Whigs currently hold two seats in the House of Representatives and one seat in the House of Lords. The Monarchist Council party has recently undergone a change of Leadership, with MP Q. Qingfield leaving the post for High Magistrate Seifert as Chairman.
Overall, it was a calm, but generally lacking year in terms of activity. It is obvious that a need for a turnaround is growing and there is much more work to be done.
