The Parliament of Versmark has officially passed the Ford-Nemours Constitutional Amendment after a House of Lords session held earlier this evening. In addition, several other important acts have been passed by the House of Lords, while De-Williamization Act has returned to the House of Representatives for further voting.
The Ford-Nemours Amendment, named after Minister of the Interior & Foreign Affairs Josh Ford as well as the Deputy Interior Minister Charles Nemours, has increased the House of Representatives seating to seven. This follows nearly three years of having only five seats available in semi-annual general elections. The passed legislation prescribes that a by-election will be held within the next three weeks. Legislators hope that the amendment will ultimately contribute to greater participation within the elected positions of Versmark.
The amendment also briefly covers wording surrounding provinces and their governance, including the formation of provincial constitutions and legislature. The amendment prescribes that Governors shall be elected via ranked choice annually.
A second amendment was passed with clarified the difference between “succession” and “self-determination” in relation to Crown Protectorates.
The Land Management Act was passed which allows land donations to new or pre-existing provinces and territories for Versmark.
The National Foreign Policy Exclusivity Act was passed which disallows Versmarkian territories from conducting diplomacy, the act intends to allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to conduct diplomacy over the entire nation as a whole.
The AI Regulations Act, 2nd Ed. was passed as a successor the earlier AI Regulations Act, with new clarification for outlawed use of Large Language models in the Versmarkian Government.
Am Martin has been appointed to the position of Minister of Culture and the Arts, a position that he has held once before. No comments have yet been made on the appointment.
The De-Williamization Act was passed by the House of Representatives earlier this month, but after recent revisions in the House of Lords it is returning to the lower chamber of Parliament to face further voting. The Act aims to change the name of the province of Williamsburg to an alternative name following last year’s diplomatic fallout with the Empire of Lehmark.
The mentioned act also extensively covers the definitions and laws surrounding provinces in general, not just Williamsburg, but the Capital province of Federheim as well.
